Excellence in Partnering Award

Cam Wobus, a managing scientist at Stratus Consulting, is part of a team of researchers that has received the Excellence in Partnering Award for their project entitled Toward a predictive model of Arctic coastal retreat in a warming climate, Beaufort Sea, Alaska.

The Excellence in Partnering Award is given to a National Oceanographic Partnership Program Project that has exemplified the NOPP goals of partnering across industry, academia and government to promote the national goals of assuring national security, advancing economic development, protecting quality of life, and strengthening science education and communication through improved knowledge of the ocean.

The "Arctic Coastal Retreat" research team includes six partner researchers from the University of Colorado Institute for Arctic and Alpine Research, Stratus Consulting, the U.S. Geological Survey and the Naval Postgraduate School.  These entities worked to integrate long-term morphological studies of the Arctic coast initiated by the USGS partners with detailed studies of the unique properties of ice-laden sediments exposed to nearshore wave processes by the academic and private industry partners.
